Welcome to Leap Day Sports: The multisport home of triathlete Jesse Thomas.
In July 2009, at the age of 29, I finished an MBA at the University of Oregon. After months of deliberation, soul-searching, and watching the economy nosedive into oblivion, I decided to delay climbing the corporate ladder (or being unemployed) to give full-time training and competing one last "tri."
My goals for this site:
- Chronicle the ups and downs of training "professionally."
- Give visitors some (unsolicited) tips, tricks, and problems to avoid that I inevitably uncover along the way.
- Create a place for dialogue and information sharing within my triathlon community.
- Give a place for all my fans* to stalk me.
More stuff along those lines is in the works. Please feel free to comment as much as you little fingers can type. Suggestions for improvement or content, questions, etc, are all greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the support!
Jesse
*Fans currently consist of wife, mother, and mother's dog.
so, why is it called leap day….
Probably should have made that clear somewhere. This site is definitely a work in progress….I was born on Leap Day, February 29th, 1980, so as of this comment, I’m technically seven and a half. It seems like the most differentiating thing I know about myself, so I just went with it. Cool yo!

Jesse, thanks for you tips at the pool today. I'm the guy you stopped to talk with for a few minutes. I'll have to try out your workout some time although remember I'm 20 years your senior.
